Site Staking and Construction Layout for Texas Earthwork Contractors

Lone Star Layouts provides professional construction staking and layout services across Texas. We work from your design files and put the plan on the ground so your crew can build from it. We put the design on the ground. Property lines, building corners, offset stakes and grade stakes. Your crew builds from what we set.

The problem

Wrong Stakes Mean Rework. Rework Means Lost Time and a GC Who Remembers It.

Construction layout errors compound quickly. A building corner set two feet off means a foundation poured in the wrong place. A grade stake set to the wrong elevation means a pad cut too deep or not deep enough. By the time the error is visible, concrete may already be poured or dirt already moved.

Most layout errors aren't caught by the contractor. They're caught by the inspector or the GC. At that point the conversation is about who pays for the correction, not who made the mistake.

Accurate layout from the start eliminates that conversation entirely.

Our solution

Professional Layout That Gives Your Crew a Clean Starting Point

We work from your civil drawings and design files to set construction stakes with GPS and total station accuracy. Property lines, building corners, offset hubs, centerlines, cut and fill stakes, reference points. Whatever your project requires on the ground, we set it.

Our field crews are available across Houston, DFW, Rio Grande Valley and Corpus Christi. We schedule around your mobilization so stakes are in the ground when your crew arrives, not a day later.

What's Included

What You Get with Every Site Staking Engagement

Property Line and Boundary Staking

We locate and stake property corners and boundary lines from your legal description and survey records. Stakes are set with GPS accuracy and flagged clearly for your crew.

Building Corner and Offset Layout

Building corners are set from your architectural or civil drawings. We set both the corner point and an offset hub so construction activity doesn't disturb the layout point. Your foundation crew works from what we set.

Grade Stakes and Cut/Fill References

Cut stakes, fill stakes, blue tops and finish grade references set to your design elevations. Your equipment operators and grade checkers have the elevation references they need to run the grade without constant re-verification.

Centerline and Alignment Staking

For road grading, drainage channels and utility corridors, we stake the centerline and horizontal alignment from your design files. Offset stakes protect the alignment through earthwork activity.

Control Points and Benchmarks

We establish on-site control points and temporary benchmarks tied to the project datum. Your crew and subcontractors have stable reference points for the duration of the job.

Stake Documentation

We provide a staking report documenting set points, elevations and any field conditions that affected layout. If your GC asks for a layout record, you have it.

Process

How a Site Staking Project Works

Step 1

Send Us Your Design Files and Schedule

Share your civil drawings, site plan and any existing survey data. Tell us your mobilization date and which stake types you need. The more lead time you give us, the more flexibility we have on scheduling your crew.

Step 2

We Review and Confirm Scope

We review your files, confirm the layout scope and provide a quote. We'll flag any design information gaps that could affect layout accuracy before we schedule the field crew. Most quotes are returned within one business day.

Step 3

We Stake the Site

Our field crew sets stakes to your design geometry using GPS and total station equipment. Stakes are flagged, labeled and documented. Offset hubs are set where construction activity would disturb the primary points. We notify you when staking is complete.

Step 4

Your Crew Builds from What We Set

Stakes are in. Your crew has what they need to start. We provide a staking report documenting the set points. If any stakes are disturbed before the work is complete, call us and we'll schedule a return visit.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Site Staking and Layout

Have more questions? Call now
What types of stakes do you set?

We set property and boundary stakes, building corner stakes and offset hubs, grade stakes and blue tops, centerline and alignment stakes, control points and temporary benchmarks. If your project requires a stake type not listed here, contact us and we'll confirm.

How far in advance do I need to schedule a staking crew?

The more lead time you give us, the more flexibility we have on scheduling. Send your design files and mobilization date as early as you can. We schedule field crews around your mobilization so stakes are in the ground when your crew arrives, and most quotes are returned within one business day.

What happens if stakes get disturbed during construction?

If any stakes are disturbed before your work is complete, call us and we'll schedule a return visit to reset them. We also set offset hubs where construction activity is likely to disturb the primary layout points, which protects the layout through earthwork activity.

Do you work on residential projects?

Our staking and layout work is geared toward earthwork contractors and commercial and civil construction. If you have a residential project that needs construction staking, contact us with your design files and we'll confirm whether it's a fit.

What design files do you need to stake the site?

We work from your civil drawings, site plan and any existing survey data. Send us those design files along with your mobilization date, and if we spot any design information gaps that could affect layout accuracy, we'll flag them before scheduling the field crew.

Can you coordinate directly with the GC or engineer of record?

Yes. We can coordinate directly with your GC or engineer of record, flag design information gaps before staking, and provide a staking report documenting set points, elevations and field conditions if your GC asks for a layout record.
